i got hugged

I was walking down Commercial Ave. the other day and I came across this young man who was holding a sign that said "Free Hugs". I couldn't help laughing and smiling at him. He offered a hug and I gladly accepted - totally brightened my gloomy winter afternoon!

Today I stumbled across the origin of this "movement" (who knew?!) and the story behind it brought me to tears. (It's also fun to watch the video).

What did I take away from this? Maybe we should all be a little kinder to each other.

Hay,

Whaddaya mean!!!!!!! What's the story behind it that brought you to tears? If it is just about the first woman, then i have got to say, you are way more sentimental than i would have sentimentalized that you are. But seriously folks, i wanted to know what HIS problems were. i really liked the 2 hugs in the video where the guy and the woman got them selves ready and then they got them selves really ready and then they got them selves REALLY really ready and then they hugged and the other one of the skateboarder. The one with the guy running across the mall and jumping into the arms of the other guy was pretty dang impressive as well.

*shocked look* *smile* actually - i surprised myself. tears rarely escape the ducts of these eyes, but something about that story... i think i actually cried because i'm sad for my own loss of empathy. i used to smile and wave and say hello to everyone i passed on the street...and now i glower because they're under the awning even though they have an umbrella, or because they are walking up the left side when they should be on the right. i do my best to avoid eye contact and i walk across the street so i don't have to say "sorry, no" to the kid asking for change outside 7-Eleven. that makes me sad. (ya. the one with the guy running and diving into the other guy's arms was one of the best for sure).
